Netflix’s newest series, “Bloodline,” premiered March 20 and featured a stacked cast including Sissy Spacek, who starred in “Carrie,” and Sam Shepard known for the films “Crimes of the Heart” and “August: Osage County.” However, it is the series’ star who allowed “Bloodline” to hit the ground running. Famous for the TV series “Friday Night Lights” and his role in the Oscar winning film “Zero Dark Thirty,” Kyle Chandler performs excellently in this series. Chicago’s weekend-long 7th annual CIMMfest (Chicago International Music and Movies Festival) begins this Thursday. The festival will feature film showings, concerts and artist panels called “CIMMcons” will be held across the Wicker Park and Logan Square neighborhoods of Chicago, along Milwaukee Ave. All the films are related to music; some are documentaries about the industry or about specific artists, some are films in which music is a central theme or that use music in an interesting way. NCP Slam Team Brings Home a Victory

On Feb. 28, when Tim “Toaster” Henderson, welcomed the audience to the 15th annual Louder Than a Bomb competition, Columbia College’s small Haus Theater seemed to shake with applause. Though the bout was comparatively small- most preliminary LTAB bouts feature four teams, as opposed to the three present at this event- the room was completely packed with poets, coaches, and fans.
